Our choristers have performed here in Chattanooga, all over Tennessee, and indeed, all over the world. They are featured on a Grammy nominated CD. By the time they finish our music education program they have a music theory knowledge of equivalent to a freshman college level. That is not why we exist. We exist to develop the lives of boys. Through music, we help them become confident, independent, responsible citizens and leaders of the future. Our twelve year old choristers can pack their suitcases by themselves. They lead their families through customs at the airport because they have done it before. They record simple melodies for preschoolers to help them learn their addresses. We positively influence the lives of boys.
Here's what some parents have to say:
“It would not be an exaggeration to say that this was a transformative experience for him. Almost immediately he began to listen differently to various parameters of music, and our conversations became filled with questions about melody, texture, chords, meter, etc. At this point, my son is 14, and has sung the leading role in "Amahl and the Night Visitors" with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra for two years, and it has been an amazing experience for him.” - Monte Coulter III, CBC Parent
“He has learned to work as team and he knows that each part of the puzzle is important and adds significance. He has gained self-confidence and he has learned that hard work does pay off. “ - Denise Craig, CBC Parent
“Since rejoining the choir he has not only enjoyed the challenging music, but it has expanded his interest in instruments as well. He has picked up the guitar and he is learning it at an accelerated pace. He has also been asked to be the lead singer of a band that a group of classmates have put together at school.
Most importantly, he is learning a skill that he can enjoy all his life.” - Paul Miller, CBC Parent
“Thanks to the Chattanooga Boys Choir, my son has the confidence to tackle any new activity with enthusiasm.” - Paula Crowell, CBC Parent
“The opportunities that he has experienced these past two years have been incredible! The summer camps are structured to enhance individual talent, and talent as a team. In addition, they have LOADS of fun!! The practices are extremely organized and rigorous, but at the same time, the practices build lots of camaraderie and acceptance. Each chorister is valued for their individual talents, but the choir as a whole sings as one. Singing songs in different languages, styles, and with different instruments is an emotional outlet. CBC brings out a side that we would have never known.” - Clara Sale-Davis, CBC Parent
