Why a Children's Choir?

A children's choir offers far more than music instruction - it nurtures the whole child while laying the foundation for a lifetime of musical enjoyment. Research consistently shows that choral singing strengthens listening skills, teamwork, self-confidence, emotional well-being, and a sense of belonging, while also supporting cognitive development, language acquisition, memory, and academic success. As children work toward shared artistic goals, they learn perseverance, responsibility, empathy, leadership, and resilience, building friendships and life skills that extend well beyond the rehearsal room. Just as importantly, a high-quality children's choir helps young singers develop healthy vocal technique, musical literacy, and a genuine love of singing that equips them to participate confidently in choirs and all other musical and artistic pursuits for a lifetime.

Why a Boys Choir?

A boys choir provides these same benefits while offering a learning environment intentionally designed around the unique musical, social, and developmental journey of boys. Rather than asking singers to adapt to repertoire that may not fit their changing voices, boys choirs carefully select and adapt music specifically for each stage of vocal development, ensuring that every chorister can sing with success, beauty, and confidence. Expert vocal pedagogues understand the physiology of the adolescent changing voice and guide each singer through every stage of growth with healthy technique, individualized attention, and encouragement. This specialized approach not only protects and develops the voice but also allows boys to continue experiencing the joy of singing throughout adolescence, building confidence, musical excellence, and a lifelong relationship with their own voice.

Why the Chattanooga Boys Choir?

At the Chattanooga Boys Choir, every singer is empowered to grow as a musician, a leader, and a young person of character while becoming part of a remarkable musical tradition. Since 1954, the CBC has enriched the cultural life of the Chattanooga community, and today's choristers have the unique opportunity to honor that legacy while helping write its exciting next chapter - one marked by premiering new works, innovative collaborations, expanded performance opportunities, and a growing artistic presence throughout the region and beyond. From local concerts and regional festivals to performances on some of the nation's most distinguished stages - and ultimately around the world - the Chattanooga Boys Choir provides an unmatched musical education that inspires excellence, service, and lifelong engagement with the arts. The result is not simply accomplished singers, but confident young people who understand the value of teamwork, leadership, and using their voices to make a lasting and meaningful impact wherever life takes them.
